x-rays
What are X-RAYS?
Most known by their job in medicine to help us see inside our bodies and in airport security to see what's inside our baggage, x-rays are a very high frequency waves that can pass through almost every object and let us see inside of it. X-rays have smaller wavelengths and because of that higher energy that ultraviolet waves. X-rays have a really small wavelength. It is als because x-rays light tends to act more like a particle than a wave. X- rays detectors work by collecting actual protons of x-ray light.
Essential questions
-how they are classify
The X ray or X radiation is an electromagnetic radiation. They have wave lengths going from 0.01 to 10nanometers. There are 2 types of X rays, one is the photon energies above 5-10 keV this ones are called the hard X rays, the ones of lower energy are called soft X rays. Hard X rays are used in many areas to look inside of objects, some of them are for medical radiography and airport security.
What’s the difference between X-rays and gamma rays?
One way to distinguish between the 2 types of radiation is that X-rays are emitted by electrons and gamma rays are emitted by atomic nucleus.
Key terms
keV-electronvolt: is a unit of energy equal to approximately 160 zeptojules or 1.6 * 10-19 joules.
Functions
The main uses for the x-rays are in medicine but by the pass of time humans are using it for a much more things, that are changing the world. The main use that we know is for seeing our bones to see if it is broken or if something happened. Another use that we are giving it and also something really important, is that we are taking the x-rays inside airports to see if we are taking something illegal in our baggage or inside our body.

History
Who discovered the X-RAYS?
In 1895 a German physicist called W.C. Roentegen was experimenting with a fluorescent light in a tube, when he putted another gas inside he saw he made an “invisible light” that will pass through a lot of objects, he kept working on it and called it the X-ray, because of the x used in math for the unknown.
